How Long Was Matt Lauer On The Today Show?

Reportedly, Matt Lauer was on The Today Show for 20 years of his life. 

He joined NBC in 1992 as a co-anchor of the early weekday news show Today in New York on the network's New York flagship station WNBC. 

In between 1998 and 2017, he also co-hosted NBC's live coverage of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. However, on November 29, 2017, Lauer's employment termination was announced after an unidentified female NBC employee reported inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace. 

What Is He Doing Now?

Lauer left New York City almost immediately after he got fired. 

He reportedly headed first to his 16-year-old son's prep school. He was then spotted in the Hamptons with his wife, Annette Roque, and two younger children. Meanwhile, it appears that the former television personality is staying low-key at the moment and therefore not much is known about him.

Matt Lauer Wife: Married Life Explored

Nancy Alspaugh, the television producer was the first wife of Matt Lauer. The couple got married in 1982 and ended their relationship in 1989.

They had no children. Later, he got married to Dutch model Annette Roque. They first met on a blind date in July 1997 and after five months of dating, and the two exchanged their vows in Bridgehampton, New York on October 3, 1998. They have three children together: son Jack, daughter Romy, and son Thijs. 

She initially filed for divorce complaint against Lauer in 2006 while she was pregnant with her third child. Although they reconciled in between, they officially got divorced on September 7, 2019.

On the other, Lauer is reportedly dating marketing and public relations executive Shamin Abas. They very recently began dating and the couple mostly spent the holidays at his home in New Zealand.

Matt Lauer's salary as of 2022 is yet to be revealed. 

Although it was reported that he did not receive a penny after he got fired from the NBC news channel, it is speculated that he must be making a fortune from the real estate business.
