Why Is Terence Naidu Arrested? Drugs Scandal Explored

After speaking with Terence Naidu this evening, Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming confirmed that Terence was arrested and detained by police on Thursday (January 13) night at a pub in Bandar Perai Jaya Penang.

Terence was re-elected Assemblyman for Pasir Bedamar, near Teluk Intan, in the 2018 general election as a member of the DAP. He defeated his Barisan Nasional opponent by a margin of 14,520 votes.

According to a police source, the two-term assemblyman was discovered with 35 other people at the nightclub, part of a KTV (karaoke parlor) in Megamall Perai.

The drug case is being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1952; it has been learned. The use of a dangerous drug is punishable by a jail term of up to two years, or both, or a fine of up to RM5,000.

Aside from the DAP politician, Mustafa Kamal Gani Abdullah of the Penang Police Narcotics Investigation Department confirmed that 47 others were detained during the 9 p.m. raid.

According to him, 36 of those arrested tested positive for drugs.
